There there are many browsers in the market today offering almost the same features, even the looks and user interface is similar. But what makes a browser better is the convenience it offers to its users while surfing and downloading. Mozilla firefox has taken a leap in this space through the addons it offers along with the browser (http://addons.mozilla.org) which makes internet surfing more convenient and entertaining.
Here's a list of my favorite addons.
1. Adblock Plus (ABP): Disables all the ads appearing on a webpage thus, help it to load faster.
2. Colourtabs: each time you open a new tab it opens in anew colour.
3. Download Statusbar: rather opening a separate window showing the progress of a download the download status is depicted in the browser window itself.
4. FireDownload: increases the download speed manifold automatically.
5. Fireshot: Captures the whole window in front of you and allows you to edit it and save as a .jpg image.
6. Flagfox: depicts the flag of the country to which the website belongs beside its URL.
7. IE Tab: Any website can opened as in Internet Explorer inside the Firefox browser itself with just a click of a button.
8. Illimitux: removes the limitations imposed by the streaming websites like Megavideo, Veoh, Megaupload etc.
9. Noscript: A website opens along with many other websites (many are ads). Noscript allows you to disable all such websites temporarily or permanently. it also solves the problem of Clickjacking, very popular now a days.
10. RightToClick: Allows right clicking and highlighting wherever forbidden like on Google Books or e-paper.
11. Video DownloadHelper: This one's my favorite. Easily download media from any website streaming media whether videos, songs or pictures with just a click of a button. E.g, Youtube.
12. LastPass Password Manager: It automatically saves your website logins and fills the login box itself when you visit the site the next time.

Windows XP reserves 20% of your internet bandwidth by default.
Increasing the speed lies in releasing this.

Here's how to do it:

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:


Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth


Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :


"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."


So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing.

By default, Microsoft includes the /prefetch:1 switch to speed up it's Windows Media Player application start time. This switch can be used for other Windows applications and also many third party programs.
Example #1
You have AOL 8.0 installed on the computer. Complete the steps outlined below to add the /prefetch:1 switch to AOL's Target path.
1. Right click on the AOL shortcut and select properties from the menu.
2. In the Target: Field add the /prefetch:1 switch to the very end of the path, like this: "C:\Program Files\America Online 8.0\aol.exe" /prefetch:1 and then click ok.
Now start AOL. It would load at least 50 times faster than ever before.

1, Go to the Start button/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools
2. Right click on System Restore and select properties from the menu that appears. Add the /prefetch:1 to the Target Path entry so it looks like this %ystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe /prefetch:1 and click ok.
Now System Restore will start immediately when executed.
Note: This switch will only work with some programs. Others will return a message saying the program in the target box is invalid. Just remove the switch

In the earlier post I told you about adding Flash Player plugin to Mozilla Firefox without administrative rights/access. But if you are a college student you won't go out doing it all the computers. to solve that problem today I shall you how to add the plugin to the portable version of Firefox(which I talked about earlier) which you can carry on a USB drive.
The process is exactly the same as we did for ordinary firefox.

1. Download Flash Player .xpi version
2. Rename flashplayer-win.xpi into flashplayer-win.zip and extract it using WinZip or 7Zip etc.
3. Copy flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll files into folder FirefoxPortableAppfirefoxplugins.
4. Restart your Firefox portable.

In University computers, the option of watching Youtube videos is disabled. This happens because you cannot install Adobe Flash Player to your internet browser(IE or firefox) without Administrative Rights. Since you cannot play videos without a flash player so here is a solution of installing adobe flash player plugin without Administrative access.
1. Download the XPI archive of the Flash Player Plugin.
2. Rename the file you just downloaded, called flashplayer-win.xpi, into flashplayer-win.zip (Change its extension from .xpi to .zip).
3. Extract the files in the archive. You can use any program capable of opening .zip files (WinZip, WinRAR or the free and great 7-zip). There are also websites which can uncompress archives: wobzip.org.
4. Copy the files flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll to %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Plugins\

• %APPDATA% is the folder which holds your applications profiles and settings.
• You can open this folder simply choosing "Start → Run → Type in %APPDATA% → OK".
• In case you don't have a Plugins folder you can create one and place your files there.Restart Firefox.
  
• You are done.

To access certain websites which are otherwise blocked by the administrator or even the country’s ISPs, we can reach them through proxy servers. These are servers with their ip addresses in another country. Thus, when we login to websites through proxy servers, we are logging as visitor from another country. But there are thousands of such proxy servers therefore choose those which show no ads and thus are fast. A list of such proxy servers is below:

Hey Friends, If you want to see Star wars movie in your computer system then, follow the steps:-

1. Your operating system should be XP.
2. It should be connected to the internet.
3. Finally type "telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl" (without quotes) into the RUN menu.

A USB device can be a pendrive. Mp3 player or anything connected through the USB port, even a mouse. Many a times some problems occurs with them but today we shall solve the most common one i.e. the USB not getting recognized.
In the Device Manager, there would be a yellow exclamation next to one of the USB Ports. Uninstall that one, restart your computer, plug in the drive. The computer would show "Found New Hardware" and everything would work fine afterwards. Here is how you will go about this:
START > Control Panel (if it says "pick a category" at the top, click "Switch to Classic View" on the lefthand side)> System > Hardware > Device Manager > Yellow Exclamation (right-click) > Uninstall.
START > Restart > Plug in Drive > Newfound Happiness.

To hack an administrator’s password in not a layman’s job. I have tried everything from googling to watching videos on youtube. And I have realized that until and unless you are close to Ankit Fadia you cannot crack it. But the basics of hacking have got their sheen, yes its all about guessing.

Not just any guessing. Try every opportunity to get a valid administrator Username because some times the password is same as that of password.

E.g, in my case once I logged in as student(Guest User)

On the desktop the security screen appeared to give me another chance to login as administrator. When I checked for the previous logged in Users one was “vb/16-32”. When I used vb as both Username and password I got logged in as the administrator. Try it you might be lucky yourself.

1.Shift & Spin

If you are in a web browser (Explorer or Netscape or Firefox) , hold down your Ctrl key and spin the wheel.It makes the text larger or smaller depending on which way you spin.For Opera users,it magnifies both the images and the text.

Reasons:
Software Problem: The Blue Screen Of Death (BCOD) in this case arises during or after installation of a new software. The reason might be non-compatiblity of that software on your system. The BCOD won't allow you to reach the desktop.
Solution: Obviously, when the BSOD is not allowing you to reach the desktop then how can you unistall it. The answer is simple.Open the computer in Safe Mode.
Restart the PC/laptop keep pressing F8 i.e. continuosly pressing and leaving.
in the system startup screen select Safe Mode> Enter.
now the Desktop will open . Go to Start> Control Panel >Add & Remove Programs
search for the "culprit" software and uninstall.
Note: By pressing you might enter system setup, press "Esc" to leave and continue pressing F8 till you reach system startup screen.

Hardware Problem: Now this is a problem which is hard to solve. BCOD in this case arises when power is cut off while running of a hardware component like the CD-ROM.
Solution: You will find various solutions on the internet but I have tried them all and found them either nonworking or very hard for a normal PC user. So it is best to send it for repair.
Note: The Software problem solution won't work in this case.
